I have had lots of trouble with my ankles and found Merrell Encore shoes to be so wonderful - at times the only shoes I could wear. They are as comfortable as slippers while providing all the support I need. I have very flat feet and find the Spenco walker runner insoles fit just right in these shoes. I bought the Encore Breeze for summer and also Encore Chill Stitch for Winter. These are the best shoes I ever bought and I cant say enough good things about them. - Amito
